Lay Thomas Young

Lay Thomas "Tom" Young age 67, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at his home. Tom was born on March 3, 1948 to his parents the late James Young and Dolly Rose Young. He was the husband of Irene Newsome Young, a demolitian contractor, and a member of the Christian Life Fellowship Church. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Along with his parents, Tom was preceded in death by two brothers, John L. Young and Charles Walter Young. Along with his wife, Tom is survived by one daughter, Melissa (Ben) Hicks, two brothers, Eugene Young, Kelly Young, two sisters, Norma Jean Fields, Mary Outlaw, three special nieces, Brittany Hamilton, Kayla & Alexis Newsome, host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Wednesday at 6p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Terry Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Newsom Branch Cemetery at Penny Road.
