Dennis Ray Adkins

Dennis Ray Adkins, age 70, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Dennis was born on February 4, 1945 to his parents the late Edgel Adkins and Cleo Coleman Adkins. He was the husband of Violet Bullock Adkins, a retired coal miner, and member of the Lick Creek Holiness Church. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam War. Along with his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kiera Denay (Starbaby) Coleman. Along with his wife, Dennis is survived by one son, Dennis Ray Adkins Jr., one daughter, Jennifer Lynn Adkins Coleman, one sister, Brenda (Charles) Hobbs, one grandson, Edward Chase Coleman, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, August 28, 2015 at 1p.m. with Ray Sayers, Charles Hobbs, and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Adkins Family Cemetery at Poor Bottom.
