James Curtis Holbrooks, age 59, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016 at the Pikeville Medical Center. James was born on Oct. 5, 1956 to his parents Opal Sexton Holbrooks and the late Walter Holbrooks. He was the husband of Edith Thacker Holbrooks, and a retired coal miner. Along with his father, James was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Holbrooks, and one sister Sissy Holbrooks. Along with his wife and mother, James is survived by three daughters, Heather Ladawn Ratliff, Megan Devon Holbrooks, Claudia Thacker Perkins, two sons, James Holbrooks, Joshua Holbrooks, six brothers, Malcolm, Ronnie, Eddie, John, Julian, and Cleve Holbrooks, nine grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Saturday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Delon Jones and Terry Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the Holbrooks Cemetery at Elkhorn.
