Denver Newsome

Denver Newsome, age 75, passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Denver was born on Oct. 10, 1940 to his parents the late Hillard Newsome and Lexie Bentley Newsome. Denver was the husband of Mary Gillespie Newsome, a coal miner, and a member of Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Denver was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers. Along with his wife, Denver is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Perry) Ratliff, Karen (Lawrence) Kendrick, one sister, Jettie Young, two brothers, Larry Newsome, Jimmy Newsome, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Sunday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Sunday and Monday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Paul Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
