Ruth King died February 15, 2016 in the arms of her daughter. She was born April 15, 1929 in Meathouse Fork of Johns Creek, Kentucky to Floyd and Ruth (Deskins) Varney. She married Carlos King July 18, 1954. A resident of Lakeport, since 1993 having come from Zebulon, Kentucky, she was a member of the Lakeport Christian Church and former member of the Zebulon Church of Christ. She loved quilting, cooking and working in the yard with her many flowers. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, who will be sadly missed by many. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos, who died August 8, 1983. She was also preceded by sisters, Marie Smith and Fostina Hatmaker, and brothers, Jim Phillips and Billy Jack Phillips. She is survived by her daughter, Emma Ruth Beck (Paul) of Lakeport; granddaughter, April Coleman Rogers (David); great grandchildren, Devin Rogers and Sydney Rogers all of Chiefland; caregivers, Nora Peavey (Jerry), DeeDee Beck (the late David) and Amber Lopez (Ernie) all of Lakeport; sisters-in-law, Shirley Phillips of Kimper, Kentucky and Claudine Phillips of Tennessee. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 10a.m. to 1p.m.at the Zebulon Church of Christ The funeral will be Saturday at 1p.m. at the Zebulon Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Bent Ridge Cemetery at Meta, Ky.
