Verna May

Verna Margie Sanders May, age 93, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at her home. Verna was born on July 30, 1922 to her parents the late Willie Sanders and Lucrecia Bentley Sanders. She was the wife of the late Curtis May, a former cook for Millard High School, and a member of the Unity Freewill Baptist Church. Along with her husband and parents, Verna was preceded in death by one daughter, Gale Coleman, one brother, Victor Sanders, and one granddaughter, Laquesta May. Verna is survived by one daughter, Glenda (Bronson) Clevinger, one son, Roger May, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Unity Freewill Baptist Church. Church services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday at 11a.m. at the Unity Freewill Baptist Church with Darrel Harmon, Mike Coleman, and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Sanders Cemetery at Rockhouse.
