Ernest Darrell Compton

Ernest Darrell Compton, age 62, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Darrell was born on Nov. 9, 1953 to his parents the late Sollie Compton and Nerva Hall Compton. He was the husband of Diana Lynn Justice Compton, retired from emergency medical services for TransStar Ambulance, Mason, and Chief of Shelby Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. since 1991 and he was also a fire instructor for Big Sandy Community and Technical College. He was also a member of Poor Bottom Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Ezra and James Kenneth Compton. Along with his wife, Darrell is survived by one son, Nicholas (Megan) Brant Compton, one daughter, Kristin Renee (DeBayne Diehl) Compton, one granddaughter, Claire Addison Compton, two brothers, Charles Franklin Compton, Sollie Monroe Compton, one sister, Judith Ann Compton Adkins, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Shelby Valley High School. The funeral will be Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Shelby Valley High School with Gary Hampton and Richard Gibson officiating. Entombment will follow in the R.H. Ratliff Mausoleum.
