Phyllis McCown

Phyllis Gail Addair Thornbury McCown, age 89, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Grundy, Va. Phyllis was born on March 14, 1927 to her parents the late James Franklin Addair and Thelma Mildred Fisher. She was the wife of the late Ernest McCown, a homemaker, and a member of the Energyville Freewill Baptist Church. Along with her husband and parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her first husband, James Thornbury, four brothers, Harold, Clayburne, Samuel, and Moses Addair, three sisters, Margaret Addair Thornbury, Willis Addair, Rosemary Addair, one step sister, Doris Kilborne, three step brothers, Chester, Billy, and Junior Waldron. Phyllis is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Thornbury Prater and her husband, Ulvert Prater, one brother, Johnny Addair, three sisters, Hilda Fuller, Rita Blankenship, Wanda Browning, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son funeral Home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 7p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with David Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Tate Cemetery in Bethel, Ohio.
