Vernon Bowling

Vernon J. Bowling, age 95, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Vernon was born on Dec. 10, 1920 to his parents the late Dover Bowling and Daisy Crider Bowling. He was the husband of Geraldine Price Bowling, a coal operator, and a member of Caney Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by four brothers, Virgil, Robert, Ralph, and Frank Bowling. Along with his wife, Vernon is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Jean Bowling Hall (the late Danny Hall), three sons, Gary Dean Bowling, Charles Douglas (Patsy) Bowling, Roger Lee (Helen) Bowling, two step sons, Gerald Crawford, T.J. Crawford, two brothers, Thomas Bowling, John Bowling, one sister, Ruby Robinson, ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren,and six great great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, August 5, 2015 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Morgan Chapman, Brian Hundley, Larry Kendrick, and Adam Akers officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park.
