Herman Lucas, age 77, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 at his residence. Herman was born on September 19, 1938 to his parents the late Noah Lucas, Sr. and Emma Damron Lucas. Herman was a Federal Coal Mine Inspector for the Mine Safety and Health Administration. He was a member of the Jenkins Masonic Lodge #856 and a member of the Ashcamp Old Regular Baptist Church. Herman also served his country in the United States Army. Along with his parents Herman was preceded in death by one daughter Christa Gaye Lucas, five brothers Challie Lucas, Sr., Willard Lucas, James Lucas, John L. Lucas, George Lucas and three sisters Clarie Mansfield, Gladys Elkins and Violet Massey. Herman is survived by his wife Christine Bartley Lucas and one son H. Michael Lucas and one daughter Michelle L. Wright. Herman is also survived by three brothers Noah "Dude" Lucas Jr., Jerry Lucas, Larry Lucas and two sisters Jessie Elkins and Ruby Elkins. Herman is survived by five grandchildren T. Mathew Wright, Kelsey Batt, Michael P. Lucas, Sarah R. Lucas and Mackenzie H. Wright and one great grandchild Austin Wright and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6:00 PM with Masonic Rites at 7:00 PM at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home and Saturday church service at 7:00 PM. Funeral will be Sunday at 1:00 PM at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Barry Lucas, Robert Kelly, Carson Wright and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Lucas Family Cemetery at Big Shelby Creek Road, Shelby Gap, Kentucky.
