Amos Bartley, age 93, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Amos was born on May 4, 1923 to his parents the late Freeland Bartley and Nora Coleman Bartley. He was the husband of the late Pluma Little Bartley, a coal miner, a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites and Shriners, and a member of the Old Samaria Regular Baptist. He also served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. Along with his wife and parents, Amos was preceded in death by one son, Larry D. Bartley, two brothers, Robert and Roland Bartley, and one special cousin, Elaine Deel. Amos is survived by one son, Casey (Sue) Bartley, three daughters, Vicky Bartley, Nora Bartley, Donna (Jerry) Williams, one step daughter, Janice (Robert) Bartley, two step sons, Jesse Elswick and Jimmy Elswick, fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, twenty great-great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Masonic Rites will be Friday at 6p.m. Church services will be Friday and Saturday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Jimmy Dale Sanders and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Bartley Cemetery at Dry Fork.
