James Charles Elkins

James Charles Elkins, age 80, of Sidney, Ky. passed away Friday, April 21, 2017, at the Pikeville Medical Center. James was born June 23, 1936 in Pike County, Ky to his parents the late Charles Auther and Finice Marie (Bevins) Elkins. He was a welder for the Norfolk Southern Railroad and a Self Employed Contractor, was a member of Mt Pleasant Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother George Harold Elkins and one brother-in-law Donald Webb. James is survived by his wife, Carolyn Elkins, one daughter Teresa Lynn (Mitchell) Smith of Mt. Sterling, two sons Charles Kent (Vonda Lynne) Elkins of Sidney and James Keith (Angie) Elkins of Waco. James is also survived by one brother, John Henry (Patricia) Elkins of Rockhouse Fork of Big Creek, two sisters, Lois Marie Webb of Williamson, W. Va. and Joyce Anne (Joseph Wayne) Smith of Canada. He is survived by five grandchildren, Kendra Leann (Joey) Tackett of Lexington, Crystal Nicole Elkins of Sidney, Wm Clay Elkins, James Kyle Elkins and Katherine Shae Elkins of Waco, several nieces and nephews and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, at 5:00 PM at the Mt. Pleasant Church, Sidney, Ky. with special singing at 7:00 PM Sunday night. Funeral will be Monday, at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Pleasant Church with Richard Staton, Albert Cable and Lacy Walters officiating. Burial will follow in the George W. Smith Cemetery at Rockhouse Fork of Big Creek, Hatfield, Ky. In Lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Mt. Pleasant Church.
