John Trimble Blackburn age 93, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center. John was born on July 13, 1923 to his parents the late John Blackburn and Victoria Sparks Blackburn. He was the husband of Lois Madeline (Madge) Billiter Blackburn, a retired employee for CSX Railroad, and a member of the Brushy Creek Baptist Church. John also served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II and Korea, and he was an active member of the Johns Creek D.A.V. Chapter #166. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by three sisters, Blanche Justice, Louise Compton, Lucille Looney, and five brothers, Ray, Fred, Claude, Joe, and Donnie Blackburn. Along with his wife, John is survived by one daughter, Vickie Blackburn, two sons, John George (Terresia) Blackburn, Andy Jerome (Delores) Blackburn, one special nephew, Michael Ray (Faye) Blackburn, five grandchildren, Jason Keith Bevins, Anthony Dwayne Bevins, John Winfield Blackburn, Matthew Russell Blackburn, Amanda Bailey, eight great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday from 6p.m. to 9p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11a.m. at Bent Branch Old Regular Baptist Church at Meta with Danny Runyon, Dale Williamson, and Josh Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in the William Blackburn Cemetery at Meta, Ky.
