Don Edward Adkins

Don Edward Adkins, age 79, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Don was born on June 2, 1938 to his parents the late Eary Adkins and Emma Bartley Adkins. He was a former employee for C & O Railroad and self employed. Don was a member of the Thomas Cecil Masonic Lodge, Shriners, and a believer of the Christian Faith. Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by one grandson, Shannon Adkins, two sisters, Audrey Coleman, Rosetta Coleman, and three brothers, Gary, Benny, and Eary Adkins. Don is survived by two sons, Dwayne (Tina) Adkins, Daryl Adkins, one sister, Ruth Ford Thacker, his caregiver Nancy Polley, two grandchildren, Derek (Shannon) Adkins, Ean Adkins, three great grandchildren, Ayden Adkins, Addisyn Adkins, Kollin Adkins, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, July 28, 2017 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Goebel Zeller officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park.
