Mary Athleen Baker

Mary Athleen Mullins Baker, age 79, of the Slate Creek section of Grundy, Va., passed away Monday, July 24, 2017 She was born on March 23, 1938 in Paynesville, WV., the daughter of the late Thomas and Madge Mullins. Athleen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. She enjoyed chrochet, sewing, knitting, and working her puzzle books. She was an active member of the Mary Lou Old Regular Baptist Church for over fifty years. Other than her parents, Athleen was preceded in death by five brothers, Verner, Estil, Jess, Edgel, and Eugene Mullins, one daughter in law, Wanda Jean Baker. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, George Baker, two sons, Douglas (Judy) Baker, Donald "Dude" Baker, two grandchildren, Sara (Howie) Fuller, Jonathan (Holly) Baker, step grandson, Timmy (Christina) Mullins, three great grandchildren, Alexis and Hayden Fuller, Eli Baker, one step great granddaughter, Kayleigh Mullins, two brothers, Harvey (Lou Emma) Mullins, Thomas Mullins, Jr., and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Mary Lou Old Regular Baptist Church. Church services will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, July 28, 2017 at 12 noon at the Mary Lou Old Regular Baptist Church at Paynesville, WV., with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Mary Lou Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jonathan Baker, Howie Fuller, Timmy Mullins, Josh Arms, Austin Keen, Stewart Woosley, and Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Mary Lou Old Regular Baptist Church.
