Eli Junior Lucas

Eli Jr. Lucas, age 69, of Shelby Gap, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Eli was born on Dec. 5, 1947 to his parents the late Eli Lucas and Rita Roark Lucas. He was the husband of the late Gladys Berniece Mullins Lucas and a coal miner. Along with his wife and parents, Junior was preceded in death by two sons, Ellis Jr. Lucas and Eli James Lucas, and one sister, Wanda. Eli Jr. is survived by one daughter, Gladys Ann Lucas Bryant, one son, James Junior Lucas, his companion, Ruth Ann Lucas, four step daughters, Lucinda Hadges, Sheila (Mark) Compton, Jamie Carter, Sandy Rodriquez, two step sons, Gerald Perysian, Joe Perysian, one sister, Vivian Oakes, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Old Elkhorn Old Regular Baptist Church. Church services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 12 noon at the Old Elkhorn Old Regular Baptist Church with Charles Nitchie, Barry Lucas, and others officiating.
