Bertha Newsome

Bertha Newsome, age 91, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at her home. Bertha was born on Nov. 20, 1925 to her parents the late Richard Damron and Rebecca Adkins Damron. She was the wife of the late Caleb Newsome, a homemaker, and a member of the Union Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with her husband and parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Hall, two sons, Roy Newsome, Charles Richard Hall, one daughter, Brenda Kaye Newsome, eight brothers, and four sisters. Bertha is survived by four sons, Marvin Newsome, Phillip (Tonya) Newsome, Greg (Carol) Newsome, Ray (Dawn) Newsome, four daughters, Norma Burke, Vanessa (Gary) Fleming, Deborah Slone, Connie (Tim) Irick, one brother, Clifford (Molly) Damron, twenty eight grandchildren, forty eight great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Saturday and Sunday at 7p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral will be Monday, Sept. 4, 2017 at 1p.m. at the Union Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
