James Prater

James "Hook" Prater, age 74, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at the Highlands Regional Medical Center. Hook was born on March 12, 1943 to his parents the late James Prater and Pearlie Jones Prater. He was the husband of Delena Branham Prater, a carpenter and mechanic, and a believer of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. Along with his parents, Hook was preceded in death by two grandsons, Michael Lloyd Prater and Asa Jay Allen. Along with his wife, Hook is survived by two daughters, Anita (Rick) O'Bryan, Donna Allen, two sons, Jim Prater and Lloyd (Holly) Prater, seven grandchildren, James Lee, Ryan, Alorea, Brady, Zoe, Rick, and Colby, four great grandchildren, Ty'Leigh, Freddy, Lexi, and Trey, two brothers, Bobby Prater, Lester Prater, eight sisters, Phyllis Spears, Norma Rowe, Deloris Spears, Delena Underwood, Dolly Coleman, Donna Goff, Easter Prater, Esther Prater, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Monday at 6p.m. at Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Monday and Tuesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Teddy Honaker and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
