William Friend

William Edward (Bill) Friend, age 74, a lifetime resident of Pike County, passed away October 1, 2017 at his home. Bill was born on Nov. 10, 1942 in Pikeville, Ky. to T. Bruce and Ruth Bales Friend. Bill was a longtime member of the Main Street Church of Christ where he devoted his life to serving God and his fellow man. He was retired from Ky WV Gas Company and a fisherman. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Bob and Gary Friend. Bill is survived by his wife, Gerri, sons Greg (Diana) Friend of Grethel, Wayne (Tiffany) Friend of Memphis, Tn., J.R. (Katie) Damron of Little Robinson Creek, one sister, Patricia Griffith of Campbellsville, Ky., ten grandchildren, Whitney Elyse Friend, Jordan Gregory Friend, Amanda Elizabeth Friend, William Burton Friend, Dylan Craig Friend, Elizabeth Deane Friend, Garrison Edward Friend, Edmond Kayne Damron, Elisa Karoline Damron, Emma Kate Damron, two great grandchildren, Owen Rhett Friend, Luke Gregory Friend, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Main Street Church of Christ. The funeral will be Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017 at 1p.m. at the Main Street Church of Christ with Josh Allen officiating. Burial will be Rob Newsom Cemetery at Little Robinson.
