Reaford Adkins

June 23, 1925 — October 2, 2017

Reaford Grant Adkins, age 92, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at his home. Reaford was born on June 23, 1925 to his parents the late Grady Adkins and Minty Brown Adkins. He was the husband of Mona Wright Adkins, a retired foreman, a member of the Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church, and a member of Dorton Old Regular Baptist Church. He also served as a Deacon at both churches. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Along with his parents, Reaford was preceded in death by seven brothers and seven sisters. Along with his wife, Reaford is survived by three daughters, Cheryl (Jay) Goad, Sheila (Kenny) Nelson, Darlene (Kevin) Damron, one son, Tony (Tara) Adkins, one sister, Ruth Bartley, ten grandchildren, April (Shawn) , Angela, Joshua, Tanya(Tony), Sheena(Barry), MaKayla(Brennan), Kennedy, Austin, Logan, Carson, eight great grandchildren, Lexie, Grant, Ella, Finley, Benny, Cooper, Harper, Kinley, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Thursday and Friday night at 7p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday October 7, 2017 at 12 noon at the Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Warren G. Adkins Cemetery at Ford's Branch.
