Carol Sue Johnson, age 81, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Carol was born on April 5, 1936 to her parents the late Vicars Sloan and Myrtle Ratliff Sloan of Praise, Kentucky (Elkhorn City). She was the wife of Earl Gene Johnson. Carol and Earl owned and operated the Johnson's Store at Wolfpit, Kentucky for 59 years. She was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church along with her husband. Carol was a Kentucky Colonel and a life time member of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association. Along with her parents Carol was preceded in death by one daughter Veronica C. Epling, one grandson, Jonathan Ryan Epling. Carol is preceded in death by three brothers, Harold H. Sloan, Thomas Sloan, Eugene Sloan, and one sister died as an infant. Carol is survived by her husband Earl Gene Johnson, one grandson Christopher Epling (Samantha), a son-in-law John Paul Epling, a special friend, Vickie Fraley and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Monday and Tuesday night at 7:00 PM. Funeral will be Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 12 noon at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Jimmy Dale Sanders and Virgil Ratliff Ratliff and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park.
