Virginia Potter Flanary, age 88, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Robinson Creek, Kentucky, passed away on November 4, 2017, Saturday, at her son's residence, under the Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice) in Lexington. Virginia was born Januray 10, 1929, at Yeager, to her parents the late James Monroe Potter and Mary Jessie Potter. Virginia was a former employee of Watson Department Store,and Mary Cavert Special Needs School. She was baptized at Yeager, Church of Christ in 1943, member at Elkhorn City Church of Christ and Broadway Christian Church (Lexington). Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon D. Flanary, one son, William Howard Flanary, one grandson Jason Matthew Flanary. Virginia was a dedicated mother, wife, and homemaker who loved cooking, reading, and bird watching. Virginia is survived by her son, Phillip (Patty Cardinal) of Lexington, her sister, Sally Potter Hall (Arthur) of Detroit, her sister, Fannie Mae Potter Collier, of Atlanta, beloved niece Hazel Hall, of Chicago, a brother, James "Buzzy" Potter (Stephanie)of Burlington. Virginia is survived by two grand children, Randi Flanary Womack (Brian) of Bowling Green, Jon Mark Flanary of Lexington. Virginia is survived by three great grandchildren Macie Blair Womack, Mason Reed Flanary, and Harper Bryce Flanary and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 12:00 Noon at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Jim Ed Belcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville, Kentucky.
