Homer Belcher, age 96, passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 at his home. Homer was born on Feb. 21, 1921 to his parents the late Jasper Belcher and Anna Belle Bentley Belcher. He was the husband of the late Nora Elkins Belcher, a coal miner, and a member of the Dorton Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his wife and parents, Homer was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Belcher, one daughter, Dorothy Belcher, one granddaughter, Melissa Belcher, three brothers, and three sisters. Homer is survived by three sons, Douglas McArthur Belcher, Charles William Belcher, Jerry Wayne Belcher, one daughter, Bonnie Wright, two brothers, Russell and Jonah Belcher, one sister, Frankie Lowe, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Country Grace Memorial Garden at Blaze Branch.
