Homer J. Smallwood, age 89, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017 at his home. Homer was born on Jan. 29, 1928 to his parents the late Boyd Smallwood and Bertha Brown Smallwood. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the Missionary Alliance Church, and he also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during Korean War. Homer is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Smallwood of Patterson, New York, Debra Wright of Dorton, Ky., two sons, Homer Jackson Smallwood and Randy Smallwood both of Dorton, Ky., two sisters, Dolly Smallwood, Mildred Bentley, five brothers, Harold, Willie, Carter, Dempsey, and David Smallwood, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Missionary Alliance Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Smallwood Family Cemetery at Dorton.
