Vernon Damron

Vernon Damron, ae 75, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Vernon was born on April 6, 1942 to his parents the late Allen Damron and Mella Newsome Damron. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Buckfield Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Shelby Damron, six brothers and sisters, Garnett Edward, Charlie Allen, Melster Stewart, Mella Lee Belcher, Rachel Brown, and Tilda Newsome. Vernon is survived by four sons, Steve Damron, Greg (Jacqueline) Damron, Chad (Rachel) Damron, Garyl (Sue) Damron, one brother, Carlos Damron, one sister, Mary Nancy Johnson, grandchildren, Shantana, Shabree, Haley, Whitney, two great grandchildren, Gracie, Meigha, and a host of loving family and friends Visitation will be Saturday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Saturday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Bruce Sawyers, Stanley Bowling, and Randall Little officiating. Burial will follow in the Newsome Branch Family Cemetery.
