Jack Spencer Sowards, age 81, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 at his home in Somerset. Jack was born on March 3, 1936 to his parents the late Willie Sowards and Elsie Johnson Sowards. He was the husband of Sylvia Bentley Stewart Sowards. He worked with IBM in systems designs, was in upper management with Bethlehem Steel Company and Formica Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jack was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Ky Colonels, Blue Lodge at Nancy, Ky., Eastern Star at Nancy, Ky., the Masonic Lodge, and Oleika Lodge in Lexington, Ky (Shriners). Along with his parents, Jack was preceded in death by one great granddaughter, Annabelle and his first wife, Ruby Nelson Sowards. Along with his wife, Jack is survived by one daughter, Debra Logan, three sons, Randall (Linda) Stewart, Steve (Diane) Stewart, Timothy Dwayne Stewart, one brother, Willie Allen Sowards two sisters, Cuba (Don) Sowards Gibson, Shelby Sowards Mills, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Masonic Rites will be Friday at 6p.m. Church services will be Friday and Saturday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Tim Bailey, Ritchie Roberts, and Gary D. Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Mausoleum.
