Josephine Shumate

Josephine Shumate, age 91, of Virgie, KY, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the Pikeville Medical Center. She was born on November 11, 1916, the daughter of the late Cam and Eve Adkins. She was also preceded in death by he husband Wesley Shumate, by one son, by six brothers and by one sister. Josephine was a loving mother, wife, and homemaker. She was also a member of the Buckfield Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Wesley J. (Robin) Shumate of Tyler, TX, and Robert B. (Lena) Shumate of San Antonio, TX, by one daughter, Nancy Jo Bowers of Lexington, KY, by one sister, Maude Heidmous of Lom Poc, CA., by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, from 12 noon to 9 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Robert Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in the Cam Adkins Family Cemetery.
