Sammie G. Wright

Sammie G. Wright, age 84, of Dorton, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2008 at his residence. He was born on April 7, 1924, the son of the late Joe and Winnie Wright. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Aileen Potter Wright, by six brothers and four sisters. Sammie proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II. Before his retirement he was self employed. He was a member of the Kentucky Colonels. He was also a member of the Pilgrim Rest Old Regular Baptist Church. He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Goodson of Dorton, Sondra Sims of Mooresburg, TN and Mary Vanessa Kelly of Shelby Gap, by one brother, Cleon Wright of Ypsilanti, MI, by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 12 Noon at the Pilgrim Rest Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Joe Wright Cemetery at Dorton. Special services will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7 p.m.
