James E. Bentley age 83 passed away Sunday, January 25th, 2009 at the Pikeville Medical Center. James was born on October 4th, 1925 to his parents the late Johnnie Bentley and Siddie Coleman Bentley. He was the husband of the late Etta Bernice Adkins Bentley, a retired coal miner for High Point Coal Company, and a member of the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by five brothers, Foster, Lester, Burton, Kenneth, and Larry Bentley, and two sisters, Mary Jones, and Beatrice Wellman. James is survived by two sons, Dallas E. (Brenda Kay) Bentley of Salyersville, Ky, Roy C. (Joyce A.) Bentley of Shelbiana, Ky., five daughters, Glenda Sue (Milford) Prater of Jeffersontown, Ky., Debbie Lynn (Kenneth) Collins of Rockhouse, Ky., Rhonda Matney of Rockhouse, Ky., Lois (Clifford) Pinion of Rockhouse, Ky., Pam (Robert) Coleman of Rolling Hills, Ky., one brother, Charles (Joyce) Bentley of Rockhouse, Ky., one sister, Molly Pauline (Joe) Colley of Norton, Va, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Monday at 6p.m. at the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday 1-28-2009 at 1p.m at the Samaria Old Regular Baptist church with Jack Lucas, Teddy Honaker, Jimmy Dale Sanders, Paul Coleman, Danny Belcher, Bradford Adkins, and others Officiating. The burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
