Murvel (Granny) Blackburn

Murvel (Granny) Blackburn age 81 passed away Wednesday 1-21-2009 at the Rock Castle Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ky. Murvel was born on March 24th, 1927 to her parents the late Emsey Luster and Betty Taylor Luster. She was the wife of the late Jesse Blackburn, a homemaker, and a member of the Ford's Branch Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with her husband and parents, Murvel was preceded in death by one son, Roger Dale Blackburn, one daughter, Wendy Blackburn, two brothers, Dewey and Ballard Luster, and one sister, Hazel May. Murvel is survived by one son, Lester Blackburn of Pikeville, three daughters, Burnice Howell of Harold, Darlene Blackburn of Caney Hwy., Brenda Bentley of Draffin, Ky., one brother, Junior Luster of Michigan , five grandchildren, Jeffrey Mullins, Sharlene Huffman, Missy Collins, Elisha Blackburn, David Blackburn, four great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday 1-24-2009 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Glenn Hall and others officiating. The burial will follow in the Potter Cemetery at Yeager, Ky.
