Edgel Tackett

Edgel Tackett, age 66, of Pikeville, Ky, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the Pikeville Medical Center. He was born on August 28, 1943, the son of the late George and Bertha Bartley Tackett. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Virgil Tackett. Before his retirement, Edgel worked as a mechanic. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Madeline Hamilton Tackett, a son, Brian Tackett of Pikeville, and by two sisters, Arizona Kiser of Amanda, OH, and Leona Newsome of Port Clinton, OH. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Old Regular Baptist Ministers Officiating. Burial will follow in the Newsome Branch Cemetery at Penny Road. Special services will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7 p.m.
