Joe E. Childers

Joe E. Childers, age 87, passed away Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Joe was born on August 25th, 1921 to his parents the late Alvin Childers and Ethel Coleman Childers. He was the husband of Aileen Sloan Childers, the owner of Ratliff & Childers Coal Company, a member of the Masonic Lodge #375 Pikeville, and a believer of the Baptist Faith. Along with his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two brothers, Forest Childers and Alvin Childers Jr. Along with his wife, Joe is survived by one son, David Childers of Marrowbone, one daughter, Linda Childers Compton of Island Creek, one brother, Bobby Childers of Marrowbone Crk., four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will begin Friday 10-24-2008 at 6:30P.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday 10-25-2008 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Mark Swan and Glenn Hall officiating. The burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana, Ky. Special services will be held on Friday night at 7 p.m.
