James Aubrey Smallwood, age 82, of South Carolina, formerly of Pike County, passed away on Thursday, October, 30, 2008, at the Oconee Medical Center in South Carolina. He was born on April 18, 1926, the son of the late Monroe and Mellie Francis Smallwood. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one grandson, Michael W. Smallwood II, two brothers, Marvin and Creed Smallwood, and by a sister, Melster Hampton. Aubrey proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II. Before his retirement he worked for the Great Lake Steel Company as a Crane Operator. He was a member of the Ken Pat Acres Association, V.F.W. and the N.R.A. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nell Mullins Smallwood, by one son, Michael W. Smallwood of Monroe, MI, by three daughters, Sandra K. Cizmar of Westminster, SC, Tonda Primack of Carleton, MI, and Lenee Siegel of Maybee, MI, by two brothers, Roy Smallwood of Dorton, KY, Ben "George" Smallwood of Grayling, MI, by two sisters, Audrey Mullins of Dorton, KY, and Fern Webb of Catlettsburg, KY, by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2008 after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Coy Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Monroe Smallwood Cemetery at Dorton. Special services will be held on Sunday night at 7 p.m.
