George Washington Charles

George Washington Charles, age 90, of Shelbiana, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009, at the Pikeville Medical Center. He was born on March 20, 1919, the son of the late John David and Delphia Louise Keene Charles. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters. George proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Myra Adkins Charles, by one son, Larry Chester Charles of Shelbiana, KY, by one daughter, Merita Gaye Briggs of Stafford, VA., by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, August, 24, 2009, after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery. Special services will be held on Monday and Tuesday nights at 7 p.m.
