Ellis Sanders

Ellis "Hunkie" Sanders, age 68, of Rocky Road, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at the Pikeville Medical Center. He was born on February 3, 1940, the son of the late Bal and Venie Hackney Sanders. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Sanders, one brother, Brice Sanders, one sister, Unice Music, and a granddaughter, Brittany Sanders. He had been a tipple operator for T.C.H. Coal Company. He is survived by his wife, Sue Ramey Sanders, by one son, Kenny Sanders of Richmond, KY, by four sisters, Erie Adkins of Regina, KY, Glema Goff of Pikeville, KY, Imal Kendrick, of Elkhorn City, KY, and Anzy Mitchell of West Virginia, by two brothers, Johnnie Sanders of Regina, KY and Rush Sanders of Elkhorn City, KY, by three grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009, after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Ernie Justice, Jimmy Dale Sanders, and Roger Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilson Cemtery at Draffin. Special services will be held on Saturday and Sunday nights at 7 p.m.
