Gladys Hinkle Ray

Gladys Hinkle Ray, 86 of Varney, KY passed away Friday, September 4th, 2009 at the Pikeville Medical Center. She was born June 4th, 1923 to the late George W. Hinkle and Chloe Fields Hinkle. She was a homemaker and member of the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Ray, two sons, Freddie Ray and Willie Lee Ray, one daughter, Teresa Diane Ray and two sisters, Bessie Foster and Alice Ray. She is survived by two sons, Fabian Keith Ray of Varney, KY and Palmer Lloyd Ray of Varney, KY, and by two daughters, Palestine Thomas of Varney, KY and Sheila Marie Ray of Varney, KY. She also leaves behind one sister, Edith Thacker of Varney, KY along with five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, September 5th, 2009 after 6:00 PM at the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church with a special service at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be at the church at 1:00 PM Sunday, September 6th, 2009. Burial will follow at the Ray Family Cemetery at Varney, KY.
