Rubin Johnson, 84, of Frenchburg, KY, formerly of Beefhide Creek, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling. He was born February 24, 1924 in Pikeville, KY. He was the son the late Henry and Elizabeth Johnson. Along with his parents, Rubin was preceded in death by three brothers, Malvary Johnson, Palmer Johnson, Tucker Johnson, two sisters, Mary and Eunice. He was a retired coal miner from the Malvary Johnson Coal Company, a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the Church of Christ. Rubin is survived by his wife Charlise Johnson, two sons, Jerry Johnson of Alger, Michigan, James Rodney of Frenchburg, KY, nine daughters, Donna Kay of Jenkins, KY, Deborah Redford of Elizabethtown, KY, Lana Ison of Gallipolis, OH, Leah Cantrell of Elkhorn Creek, Rhedia Carol of Mt. Sterling, KY, Sandy Newsom of Caney, KY, Karen Bryant of Elkhorn Creek, Jennifer Wright of Frenchburg, KY, and Jill Wright of Owls Branch, KY, three brothers, Jonah, Jesse, and Elmer Johnson of Michigan, two sisters, Ruth Thacker(Rubin's Twin)of Lick Fork, and Barbara Justice of Tennessee, one granddaughter Becky Meadows, and a host of loving friends. Visitation will be at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Monday at 6PM. Funeral Services will be conducted 12 Noon Wednesday at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park. Special services nightly at 7 PM
