Walton Burke

Walton Burke age 85, passed away Monday, September 15th, 2008 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Walton was born on July 2nd, 1923 to his parents the late Grady and Mary Burke. He was the husband of Eva Burke, a retired coal miner, and a member of the Unity Freewill Baptist Church at Rockhouse, Ky. Along with his parents, Walton was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxie Virginia Mullins Burke, one son, Ernie Burke, one daughter, Emogene Burke, two brothers, Huriston and Milton Ray Burke, and five sisters, Vadney Combs, Draxie Wright, Agnes Haley, Loretta Albert, and Bethel Bentley. Along with his wife, Walton is survived by two sons, Gobel Burke of Myra, Ky., Herbert Wayne Adkins of Rockhouse, four daughters, Phyllis Burke of Buckfield, Doris Blohn of Carleton, Michigan, Delonna Delavder of Rockhouse, Robin Ramey of Rockhouse, one brother, Milford Burke of Michigan, one sister, Gustie Wright of Dorton, twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday September 16th, at 6 p.m. at the Unity Freewill Baptist Church The funeral will be Thursday at 11a.m. at the Unity Freewill Baptist Church at Rockhouse. The burial will follow in the Yohnce Cooke Cemetery at Beefhide.
