Tommy Dale Blankenship, age 62, of Kimper, KY, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. He was born on May 11, 1946, the son of Francis Blankenship and the late Jack Blankenship. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, James Wilson, James Paul and Homer Blankenship and by two sisters, Helena and Juanita Blankenship. Before his retirement, Tommy had worked as a coal miner for the Bevins Coal Company. He was also a member of the Meathouse Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to is mother, he is also survived by his wife Ermalene Blankenship, by two daughters, Teresa Ann Layne of Kimper and Genese Lynn Justice of Kimper, by three brothers, Billy Jackie and Albert Blankenship all of Pikeville, by three sisters, Opal Marie Harmon Justice of Kimper, Emma Rich of Pikeville, and Betty Lou Atkinson of Zanesville, OH, and by three grandchildren, Hannah LeShae Layne, Marcus Peyton Layne, and Ethan Skyler Justice all of Kimper. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2008, after 6 p.m. at the Meathouse Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Meathouse Freewill Baptist Church with Gary Thacker & others officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmon Family Cemetery at Kimper. Special services will be held on Thursday and Friday nights at 7 p.m.
