Burbon Thacker, age 79, passed away, Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at his residence. Burbon was born on October 20, 1928, the son of the late Alfred and Sarah Thacker. He was a retired coal miner and was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Thacker, three sisters Daisy Thacker, Zola Slone and Opal Harmon. Burbon is survived by two daughters, Betty Belcher of River Hurricane and Nancy Rowe of Kimper. Four brothers, Jimpy Thacker of Pikeville, Steve Thacker of Raccoon, Doc Thacker Jr of Shelby, Lunner Thacker of River Hurricane Rd. Three sisters, Ernestine Thacker of Pikeville, Beatrice Thacker of Raccoon, Zettie Slone of Pikeville,Five Grandchildren, Four GreatGrandchildren and a host of loving family and friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Meathouse Freewill Baptist Church with Roy Coleman and Gary Thacker officiating. Burial will follow in the Justice Cemetery at Kimper. Special services will be held on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
