Bobby Swiney

Bobby Swiney age 72, passed away Monday 12-01-2008 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Bobby was born on April 5th, 1936 to his parents the late Luther Swiney and Della Adams Swiney. He was the husband of Teresa Justice Swiney, a retired coal miner for Hoopwood Coal Company, and a member of the Island Creek Old Regular Baptist church. Along with his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by two brothers, Holbert & Kethern Swiney, and two sisters, Emma Ruth Hamilton, & Amy Swiney. Along with his wife, Bobby is surivived by two sons, Scotty Swiney of Caney Hwy., Ricky Swiney of Island Creek, five daughters, Anita Holbrooks of Michigan, Victoria Hamilton of Pikeville, Della Marie Harris of Pikeville, Osie Shawna Billiter of Lexington, Ky, Atacha Jo Murphy of Pikeville, one brother, James Swiney of Indiana, four sisters, Mary Lou Hamilton of Pikeville, Samantha Holbrooks of Michigan, Lizzie Ratliff of California, Rita Thacker of Tennessee, twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Owsley Freewill Baptist Church at Hurricane Creek. The funeral will be Thursday 12-4-2008 at Owsley Freewill Baptist Church at 1p.m. with Leonard Hamilton and others officiating. The burial will follow in the Swiney Cemetery at Island Creek.
