Ruben Baker

Ruben Baker age 83 passed away Thursday June 18th, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington, Ky. Ruben was born on April 4th, 1926 to his parents the late Ira Baker and Frankie Damron Baker. He was the husband of Eddie Mae Gordon Baker, a retired coal miner, and a member of the Old Elkhorn Regular Baptist Church where he was also a minister. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Along with his parents, Ruben was preceded in death by his first wife, Lonna Osborne Baker, one step son, Paul Anderson, one step daughter Noraine Vanover, five brothers, Tom, Alvis, Bobby, Willie and Anthony Baker, and three sisters, Spicie Jean, Becky, and Mindy. Along with his wife, Ruben is survived by two sons, Carl Baker of Mt. Sterling, Ky., Joseph Ira Baker of Jonancy, Ky., one daughter, Neva Bentley of Paintsville, Ky., two step daughters, Phyllis McIntyre of West Va., Aletha Clemens of Mt. Sterling, Ky., three brothers, Fred Baker of Dorton, Ky., Mayo Baker of Michigan, Franklin Dee Baker of Michigan, one sister, Mazie Rose of Elkhorn City, Ky., ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Monday 6-22-2009 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Charles Nitchie, Jimmy Dale Sanders, Teddy Honaker, and others officiating. The burial will follow in the R.H. Ratliff Cemetery at Shelbiana, Ky.
