Essa Mae Hurley

Essa Mae Hurley, age 87, formerly of Marrowbone, passed away at her daughter's home at Millard on Saturday, September 11th, 2010. She was born on June 5th, 1923 in Pike County to the late George and Tennessee Hunt Thacker. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pikeville Freewill Baptist Church. she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Hurley Jr. her infant brother, James Albert, infant daughter, Brneda Lee, her sister, Billy Jean Hurley. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Linda (Scotty) Derry of Millard, her son, Larry Randall (Loretta) Hurley of Callahan, Florida, and Greg. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Cathy Lynn Derry, Valerie Dawn Cartwright, Tammy Hurley McCown, Larry Shawn Hurley, and Gregory John Hurley, and six great-grandchildren, McKayla and Tiffany McCown, Nicole and Cody Cartwright, and Haley and Wyatt Hurley. Visitation will be Monday 9-13-2010 at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Special services will be Monday and Tuesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Patton and Rev. Don Lee officiating. The burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
