Charles (Emmet) Smith age 85 passed away Sunday, July 25th, 2010 at his son's home. Emmet was born on Sept. 29th, 1924 to his parents the late William McKinley Smith and Letha Gross Smith. He was the husband of Joyce Brown Smith, and a self employed logger. Along with his parents, Emmet was preceded in death by one son, David Brian Smith, two brothers, Nick Smith and Hessie Smith, and one sister, Justine Parsons. Along with his wife, Emmet is survived by three sons, William Smith, Charles Smith Jr., and Hoyt Smith all of Pikeville, two daughters, Deborah Smith Haggins of North Carolina, Connie Sue Smith of South Carolina, one step son, Teddy Brown of New York, three brothers, Vass Smith of New York, Henry Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, Morris Delmer Smith of Pikeville, Ky, four sisters, Katherine Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, Lydia Thompson of Pikeville, Ky., Marcella Smith of Pikeville, Nell Maynard of Oklahoma, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Monday at 5p.m. at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home. Special services will be Tuesday at 7p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 at 12 noon at the Upper Joe's Creek Church of Christ with Church of Christ Ministers officiating. The burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery at Lick Hollow
