Josie Thacker

Josie Thacker age 98 passed away Monday July 26th, 2010 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Josie was born on July 17th, 1912 to her parents the late Alfred Thacker and Jenny Slone Thacker. Josie was the wife of the late Frank Thacker, a homemaker, and a member of the Philadelphia Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with her parents, Josie was preceded in death by two sons, Hazard and Jewett Thacker, two daughters, Alene Conway, Geneva Conway, five brothers, and two sisters. Josie is survived by two daughters, Alice Thacker and Berna Blackburn both of Lower Pompey, five sons, Frank Jr. Thacker, A.B. Thacker, Garfield Thacker, Donnie Lee Thacker, Joe Vanus Thacker all of Lower Pompey, thirty grandchildren, fifty-six great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m.at the Philadelphia Old Regular Baptist Church. The funeral will be Thursday, July 29th, 2010 at 11a.m. at the Philadelphia Old Regular Baptist Church with Toy Looney, Johnny Jr. Thacker, Allen Thacker, Johnny Smith and others officiating. The burial will follow in the Thacker Family Cemetery.
