Elaine Adkins

Elaine Gillespie Adkins age 70 passed away Thursday, June 17th, 2010 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Elaine was born on Nov. 20th, 1939 to her parents the late James Elmer Gillespie and Clovie Justice. She was the wife of the late James "Jimmy" Adkins Jr., a cook for Greasy Creek Elementary School, and a believer of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. Along with her husband and parents, Elaine was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Karen Adkins. Elaine is survived by one son, Jamie Adkins of Shelbiana, Ky., four daughters, Connie Vanhoose of Sitka, Ky., Demeta Adkins of Shelbiana, Joanetta Borders of Hiram, Ga., Polly Kilgore of Marrietta, Ga., one brother, Paul Reed Gillespie of Shelbiana, sixteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Special Services will be Friday and Saturday night at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, June 20th, 2010 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. The burial will follow in the Justice Family Cemetery at Greasy Creek.
