Robert Newsome

Robert Newsome age 85 passed away Friday Feb. 19th, 2010 at the Parkview Nursing Home. Robert was born on April 3rd, 1924 to his parents the late Andrew Newsome and Tilda Newsome. He was the husband of the late Beatrice Rogers Newsome, a retired coal miner, and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with his wife and parents, Robert was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary and Stella Hamilton, Melly Damron, Rena Blair, Ella Newsome, and four brothers, Trussel Newsome, William Harrison Newsome, Andrew and Feddie Newsome. Robert is survived by two sons, John Michael (Abigail) Newsome of Harold, Ky., David (Susie) Newsome of Caney Hwy., two daughters, Lona (Paul) Johnson of Harold, Ky., Stella (Thomas) Hamilton of Pikeville, two brothers, Noah Newsome of Oakwood, Va., Troy Newsome of Mavisdale, Va., two sisters, Victoria Hamilton of Harold, Ky., Ruthy Ray of Caney Hwy, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Sunday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. The burial will follow in the Newsome Branch Cemetery at Penny Rd.
