Tom Hayes, age 83, of Jenkins, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. He was born on April 4, 1927, the son of the late Steve W. and Nora Boggs Hayes. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edith and Lucille, and by four brothers, Elroy, Truman, George, and Earl Hayes. Before his retirement, Tom was a coal miner for the Beth-Elkhorn Coal Company. He was a member of the Peoples Fundamental Baptist Church. Tom proudly served his nation with the Army Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Eldra Dean Hayes, by two sons, Jerry (Vickie) Hayes of Seymour, TN and Danny (Angie) Hayes of Pound, VA, by one daughter, Teresa (Dale) Reynolds of Pikeville, KY, by a brother, Hoyt Hayes of Jenkins, KY, by seven grandchildren, Joshua Hayes, Derek Hayes, Kevan Hayes, Kara Crawford, Justin Crawford, Craig Hayes, and Shawn Hayes, and by a great grandchild, Alyssa Stanley. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, 2010, after 6 p.m. at the Peoples Fundamental Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Peoples Fundamental Baptist Church with Van Webb, Danny Craft, and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Payne Gap Cemetery at Jenkins. Special services will be held on Monday and Tuesday nights at 7 p.m.
