Kernie Bentley, 75, of Little Creek, passed away Monday, April 26th, 2009 at the Pikeville Medical Center. He was born April 29, 1934 in Pike County to the late Kernie Bentley and Martha Newsome Bentley. Kernie was retired from the Flavo Rich Dairy Company and a member of the Little Creek Old Regular Baptist Church. He also served our country in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Clarence Bentley, one sister, Myrtle Hall, and three infant children. Kernie is survived by his wife, Nannie Compton Bentley, one son, Ricky Joe (Teresa) Bentley, and one daughter, Sandie (Matthew) Bentley Gooslin. He also leaves behind two sisters, Hazel (Veral) Thornsbury and Dorothy (Stu) Stewardson, two brothers, Arlin (Willa) Bentley and Hayse (Mirkie) Bentley, his three grandchildren, Wesley Adam Bentley, Brandon Tyler Welsh, and Alyse Marie Gooslin, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be at the Little Creek Old Regular Baptist Church after 6 P.M. Tuesday April 27th. There will be special services Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 P.M. Funeral services will be at the church at 11 A.M. Thursday. Burial will follow in the Compton Family Cemetery.
