Leon “Worth” Clevinger, age 80, of Pikeville, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at the East Ky. Veterans Center at Hazard, KY. He was born on July 3, 1930, the son of the late Early and Ella Clevinger. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Swiney Clevinger, by a son Woody Clinard Clevinger, by two brothers, Chester and Robert Earl Clevinger, and by two sisters, Mary Kiser and Nora Epling. Before his retirement, Leon worked as a Federal Mine Inspector. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, where he received a Purple Heart for his service. He was of the Baptist Faith. He is survived his wife, Emelie Clevinger, by two sons, Jerry (Audrey) Clevinger of Frankfort, KY, and Philip (Margaret) Clevinger of Pikeville, KY, by two daughters, Kay (Roger) Justice of Harold, KY, and Michelle (Rodney) Sparkman of Pikeville, KY, by eight brothers, Ellis (Eve) Clevinger of Harold, KY, Jimmy (Melva) Clevinger, Norman (Phyllis) Clevinger, Dennis (Dollie) Clevinger, Paul (Gail) Clevinger, and Randy Clevinger, all of Pikeville, KY, Donnie (Connie) Clevinger of Dayton, OH, and Dean (Shirley) Clevinger of the State of Ohio, by three grandchildren, Pamela (John) Chaney of Pikeville, KY, Andi (Warren) McGaughey and Wes Clevinger, both of Frankfort, KY, five step grandchildren, Shona Belcher of Harold, KY, Shannon Justice and Samantha Smith, both of Pikeville, KY, Andrew (Virginia) Smith of Hampton, VA, and Shelby Lyn Sparkman of Pikeville, KY, by four great grandchildren, John and Mark Chaney, Lyndon McGaughey, and Julia Clevinger, and by four step-great grandchildren, Jessie Cochran, Chandler and Benjamin Belcher and Lucas Justice. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 08, 2010, after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Jimmy Dale Sanders, Dale Williamson, Richard Staton, and Danny Runyon officiating. Burial will follow in the Clevinger Cemetery at Venters, KY. Special services will be held on Monday and Tuesday nights at 7 p.m.
